France officially recognizes State of Palestine in historic move

NEW YORK, September 22, 2025 (WAFA) – French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Monday evening that France has officially recognized the State of Palestine, marking a historic step in international diplomacy.

The announcement came during Macron’s address at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held in New York.

“Since last July, events have escalated at a frightening pace,” Macron said. “It is our responsibility to preserve the two-state solution—Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security. Therefore, in line with my country’s commitments, I declare today that France recognizes the State of Palestine.”

Macron stressed the moral imperative of the move, adding: “Our duty is to protect everyone without exception. This is an indivisible duty. There is a way to break the cycle of war and destruction, and that way is to recognize the other—in their legitimacy, humanity, and dignity.”

The French president’s declaration was met with prolonged applause from participants at the conference, underscoring the significance of the decision.
