ANKARA, September 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Burhaneddin Duran, Director of the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidency, said that the recognition of the State of Palestine by Britain, Canada, and Australia is tangible evidence of the defense of international law and support for universal human values.
In a post on the Turkish "InSocial" platform on Sunday, Duran explained that Turkey welcomes the decisions of Britain, Canada, and Australia to recognize Palestine as a state.
He pointed out that countries that oppose Israeli attacks on innocent Palestinians and recognize Palestine as a state are on the right side of history.
Duran expressed his confidence that the recognition of the State of Palestine by such countries will encourage other countries to take similar steps and contribute to Palestine attaining its rightful place on the international stage.
He stressed that Turkey will continue to support the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital and will defend the legitimate cause of the Palestinian people at all levels.
Earlier on Sunday, Britain, Canada, and Australia announced their recognition of the State of Palestine, bringing the number of countries to have taken this step to 152 out of 193 UN member states.
