Ramallah, September 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Vice President and Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, Hussein al-Sheikh, welcomed on Sunday evening the recognition of the State of Palestine by Britain, Canada, and Australia, considering it a victory for Palestinian rights and the justice of their cause.

In a post on X , al-Sheikh said that this recognition constitutes "an international victory for rights, suffering, displacement, and oppression, and a victory for humanity, justice, peace, and the right of peoples to self-determination."

He added: "Thank you, Britain, Canada, and Australia, for recognizing the State of Palestine. It is a historic day in the life of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, and the fruit of their patience, steadfastness, resilience, and sacrifices."

al-Sheikh stressed that this step opens a new horizon for the world to do justice to the Palestinian people and realize their right to freedom and independence.
