MOSCOW, September 19, 2025 (WAFA) - The Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed today, Friday, that lasting and genuine peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, stressing that the Palestinian-Israeli settlement remains the cornerstone for achieving stability in the region.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during a press conference that justice in the question of Palestine is the foundation of any sustainable peace agreement in the Middle East, and that Russia continues to believe in the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
Zakharova added that Russia views Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian Territory as a major obstacle to progress toward peace, stressing that the international community must take firm positions against these policies and that diplomatic pressure should continue to guarantee the right of Palestinians to self-determination.
