BRUSSELS, September 11, 2025 (WAFA) – More than 300 former and current European Union diplomats have urged immediate measures to halt Israel’s military assault on Gaza and ease the escalating humanitarian crisis.
In letters addressed to EU institutions and leaders of the 27 member states, they called for sanctions against members of the Israeli government and an immediate suspension of the EU-Israel partnership agreement.
The diplomats also urged 13 European countries to recognize the State of Palestine, following the example of 147 UN member states that have already done so.
They pushed for emergency meetings of the UN General Assembly and Security Council to adopt sanctions against Israel, and called on Washington to lift restrictions on Palestinian and UN representatives within the organization.
