BRUSSELS, August 22, 2025 (WAFA) - European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, said that famine is a reality in the Gaza Strip, as confirmed by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, stressing that, “People are dying from starvation.”
In a post on X, she said, “By the end of Sept, almost 1 in 3 people could face famine. This is a race against time.”
She urged Israel to allow unimpeded and sustained humanitarian access to all people in need in the Strip.
