Spain slams Israel's E1 project, calls for permanent ceasefire in Gaza

MADRID, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares has criticized Israeli plans to establish new colonies in East Jerusalem, noting that this violates international law and undermines the two-state solution that "Spain has been working for."

In a post on X, he firmly slammed Israel for the said colonial project.

"I strongly condemn Israel's decision to build new settlements in East Jerusalem. It violates international law, will divide Palestinian territory, and seeks to make the two-state solution Spain is working toward unviable," he said.

"In Gaza, the escalation of the Israeli military occupation must end. It will bring even more deaths and unjustified suffering," Albares said.

"The path to peace and security is a permanent ceasefire, the release of the hostages, a massive influx of humanitarian aid, and a two-state solution."
