BRASILIA, August 17, 2025 (WAFA) – Brazil condemned the Israeli E1 colonial plan which would separate Jerusalem from the West Bank, stressing that the plan is a geopolitical step that threatens the existence of the State of Palestine.

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the Israeli colonial plan “E1” would undermine the unity of the Palestinian land on a broader scale.

The statement stressed that this plan threatens to divide the West Bank into north and south, and to isolate East Jerusalem from the rest of these lands.

Brazil considered this Israeli step a geopolitical move that threatens the existence of the State of Palestine and constitutes a violation of international law.

It noted that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) confirmed the illegality of Israel’s continued presence in the occupied Palestinian Territory.

It said that the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice concluded that Israel is obliged to immediately halt any new colonial activity, stressing that Brazil affirms the right of the Palestinian people to an independent and sovereign state.

The statement called on Israel to refrain from taking unilateral measures that threaten the two-state solution and jeopardize the achievement of lasting peace in the region.
