UNICEF: 112 children face risk of malnutrition daily in Gaza

GENEVA, August 16, 2025 (WAFA) – UNICEF spokesperson Kazem Abu Khalaf warned of a dangerous deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, noting that 112 children face the risk of malnutrition daily.

He stated that the number of children who have reached a state of severe malnutrition has risen by 180 percent when comparing February, during the truce, with last June.

Abu Khalaf highlighted that only the children who have reached severe malnutrition but remain alive can be considered fortunate, while tens of thousands more suffer from varying degrees of malnutrition, posing a direct threat to their lives and future.

He also pointed out that the crisis extends to pregnant women, many of whom suffer from severe malnutrition, resulting in the birth of children in critical health conditions from birth.
