PARIS, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) - French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said the expansion of the Israeli operation to Gaza City and the Al-Mawasi area would be an inevitable disaster resulting in more civilian casualties, the endangerment of Israeli hostages in the Strip, and a never-ending war.

In a post on X, he stressed that the only way forward is through a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages, the protection of civilians, and the massive entry of humanitarian aid.

He said that France proposes launching a temporary international mission, under the auspices of the UN, to create the conditions for lasting peace in the region, adding that the Security Council must now grant a mandate to this mission, and stressing that France is working with its partners without delay to achieve this.

He concluded by affirming that this is the only credible path to ending permanent war and building peace and stability in the region, urging not to waste time.
