RAMALLAH, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly welcomed the announcement by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of his country’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine next month during the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

The Ministry regarded this decision as fully consistent with international law and United Nations resolutions, and as a meaningful step toward achieving peace in accordance with the two-state solution.

Expressing gratitude to Australia for its historic and courageous stance, the Ministry reaffirmed Palestine’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Australia, and urged all countries that have yet to recognize the State of Palestine to do so, to safeguard the two-state solution and advance peace in accordance with international legitimacy, the Arab Peace Initiative and the New York Declaration.
