CAIRO, August 8, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, announced that the Permanent Mission of Palestine today, Friday, requested an urgent session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent observers immediately, based on directives from the Palestinian presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
The request aims to discuss mechanisms for action at the Arab and international levels to confront Israeli crimes, prevent their continuation, and hold perpetrators accountable before international justice mechanisms.
Al-Aklouk told WAFA that the request comes amid the ongoing aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing committed by Israel, the occupying power, against the Palestinian people for more than 671 consecutive days.
He added that the request is also in light of the Israeli decision to reoccupy and fully control the Gaza Strip, which will result in forced displacement of Palestinians inside and outside Gaza, more horrific bloody massacres, and intensified starvation.
It also comes amid Israel’s continued destruction of Palestinian refugee camps, colonial expansion, demolition of homes and infrastructure, colonists' terrorism in the occupied West Bank, and escalating raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
He emphasized that the meeting must issue an Arab resolution calling for effective action at both the Arab and international levels to confront these Israeli crimes and prosecute those responsible before international courts.
