Kenya calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza, multinational oversight

NEW YORK, July 30, 2025 (WAFA) – The Kenyan representative expressed concern that "the absence of decisive and coordinated action," coupled with "hardened positions that perpetuate the status quo as unchangeable," will lead to "prolonged humanitarian suffering and strategic disintegration."

He emphasized, "This conference represents one of the few remaining opportunities to translate consensus into concrete and irreversible steps."

He called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and for ensuring unrestricted humanitarian access.

The Kenyan representative also urged the establishment of robust, jointly monitored security arrangements to protect civilians on both sides, "linked to benchmarks that reinforce the two-state solution.

He proposed the establishment of a multinational oversight body to monitor compliance, deter, and report transparently to the international community.

"This world is watching," he concluded. By adhering to three fundamental pillars—politics, economics, and security—we can lay the foundation for a just and lasting peace.
