RAMALLAH, July 29, 2025 (WAFA) – Nicaragua's Ambassador to Palestine Gadiel Mairena stressed the need to immediately stop the genocide and starvation war in the Gaza Strip.
He expressed the solidarity of his people and government with the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, and affirmed Nicaragua's firm and consistent position on the just Palestinian cause until freedom, sovereignty, and true independence are achieved.
This came during Mairena's visit to the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) Expatriates Affairs Department, where he met with the Department's Director General, Hussein Abdel Khaleq, and the Department's Advisor and Head of Latin America, Mai Al-Kaila.
The Ambassador was briefed on the latest Palestinian developments in light of the ongoing Israeli genocidal war against Palestinisn people, which has claimed the lives of more than 59,000 Palestinians and injured 145 since October 7, 2023, amid widespread destruction of infrastructure, schools, universities, hospitals, and residential neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip.
The ongoing and escalating Israeli violations in the West Bank, the increasing frequency of colonist attacks against Palestinian people and their property, and the occupation government's steps to impose Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank were also reviewed.
During the meeting, the Palestinian side affirmed the strength of bilateral relations between Palestine and Nicaragua, praising the role of the Republic of Nicaragua, led by President Daniel Ortega, as one of the most prominent political supporters of the Palestinian cause in international forums, and its unwavering support for our people and their legitimate rights to freedom, independence, and self-determination.
