France condemns Israeli bombing of Latin Monastery Church in Gaza

PARIS, July 18, 2025 (WAFA) – France condemned the Israeli army’s bombing of the Latin Monastery Church in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of three civilians and the injury of others.

During a phone call with the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot expressed France’s solidarity following the attack on the Catholic Church of the Holy Family, which has historically been under French protection under the Constantinople Agreements of 1913.

France affirmed that dozens of civilians are being killed daily in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli bombings and attacks, stressing that such attacks are unjustifiable, and civilians, as well as civilian infrastructure, places of worship, hospitals, and shelters in Gaza, must not be targeted.

France renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire and the full lifting of restrictions on humanitarian aid, in order to allow the United Nations and organizations that adhere to international law to resume large-scale, dignified, and unimpeded delivery of aid to civilians.
