RAMALLAH, July 14, 2025 (WAFA) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has voiced firm opposition over Israel’s plan to establish a so-called "humanitarian city" in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
In remarks made to the press on Sunday, Merz expressed growing dissatisfaction with Israel’s conduct in Gaza, stating, “The Palestinian people have the right to a place where they can live. What is currently happening in Gaza is simply not acceptable.”
The Chancellor also reiterated his support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, expressing hope that progress could be achieved in coordination with the U.S. administration.
