AMMAN, June 26, 2025 (WAFA) - Minister of Finance Omar Al-Bitar received today a $30 million tranche of the grant provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the State of Palestine, as part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing support for Palestine in 2025.
The payment was handed over at Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in Amman during a meeting between Minister Al-Bitar and Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Jordan, Mohamed bin Hassan Mounis.
Al-Bitar praised the continuous financial and political support from Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of this contribution in alleviating the severe financial crisis facing Palestine amid recent Israeli policies.
He expressed deep appreciation for the Kingdom’s historic and steadfast position towards the Palestinian people.
He also commended Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Palestine’s legitimate rights and the establishment of an independent state, conveying the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, thanking them for their ongoing political, economic, and humanitarian support.
For his part, Mounis explained that this payment reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian government and enabling it to meet its financial obligations. He highlighted the importance of such assistance in bolstering Palestinian resilience and alleviating their suffering amid economic and humanitarian challenges.
Mounis reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s steadfast commitment to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, noting that the Kingdom has provided approximately $5.3 billion over recent years, including humanitarian, relief, and development aid as part of its support for Palestine.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides financial support to Palestine to sustain vital sectors, primarily the health and education sectors. This support includes covering hospital expenses, purchasing medicines and medical equipment, and paying the salaries of medical staff, teachers, and administrative employees in the Ministry of Education. Additionally, it covers the operational costs of running schools.
