JERUSALEM, May 26, 2025 (WAFA) – The Jerusalem Governorate condemned the provocative “Flag March” organized today by extremist right-wing groups in the Old City of Jerusalem, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international laws and conventions.
The march was accompanied by serious incursions into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli government ministers and officials, who carried out blatant violations and performed Jewish Talmudic rituals within the mosque compound, in what the Governorate called an attempt to assert full control over Al-Aqsa.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Governorate warned that these racist practices, carried out under heavy protection from Israeli occupation forces, reflect a grave intensification of the systematic Judaization policy targeting occupied East Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque.
These actions, the statement added, constitute a flagrant challenge to the established legal and historical status quo, as well as to the will of the international community, which has repeatedly affirmed that East Jerusalem is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory.
The Governorate emphasized the need to respect the Hashemite custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, recognizing it as the sole legitimate authority responsible for managing the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It also warned of the serious consequences of the continued violations of the current status quo and attempts to impose new realities through force and arrogance.
The Governorate called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, the Security Council, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the European Union, to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities and take urgent, effective measures to halt the ongoing crimes and repeated violations committed against the Holy City, its residents, and its sacred sites.
