MADRID, May 25, 2025 (WAFA) - Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to advocating for an end to military aggression in Gaza, underscoring the imperative of upholding justice and safeguarding the dignity of Palestinian civilians.
During his meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide on Sunday, Albares argued that Spain is not trying to lecture anyone, but sees the recognition of a Palestinian state as a necessary step to safeguard the prospects for peace in the region. He added that the international community has a responsibility to uphold human values and dignity, including within Europe.
He also noted that his government is considering the possibility of imposing punitive measures on Israel, emphasizing the need to ensure the smooth and unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
For his part, the Norwegian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic efforts to mobilize broad international support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, asserting that the international community must now reinforce its commitment to the rights of the Palestinian people.
