Malaysia, Maldives affirms the importance of peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue

RAMALLAH, April 28, 2025 (WAFA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Maldives President Mohamed Moazzur stressed the importance of resolving the Palestinian issue through peaceful means in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

During a joint press conference with Moazzur, who is currently visiting Malaysia, Ibrahim praised the Maldives' recent decision to ban Israelis from entering its territory in protest against the Israeli occupation's violations against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

For his part, the Maldives President reiterated his country's solidarity with the Palestinian cause, affirming the Maldives' commitment to supporting and defending the rights of the Palestinian people through various international forums, and calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In a joint statement, the two officials affirmed their commitment to strengthening the solidarity of the Islamic Ummah and adhering to the true values ​​of Islam. They also discussed important international issues, most notably the conflicts affecting Muslims worldwide, emphasizing the importance of finding just and sustainable solutions to these challenges.
