Israel continues disinformation campaign against UNRWA

RAMALLAH, April 17, 2025 (WAFA) – The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that the Israeli occupation authorities are preventing international media from entering Gaza, which fuels misleading propaganda.

Lazzarini tweeted on Thursday, "Since the start of the war a year and a half ago, the Israeli authorities have prevented international media from entering Gaza to cover events independently, which fuels propaganda, disinformation, and dehumanization."

He added, "Palestinian journalists continue their heroic work and are paying a heavy price, with 170 of them killed so far." He noted that the free flow of information and independent reporting is essential for truth and accountability during conflicts, and Gaza should be no exception. It is time to allow international media into the Strip.

Earlier this month, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that 1.9 million people have been forcibly displaced amidst bombardment, fear, and loss in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, Lazzarini emphasized that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, caused by the fighting, is leading to the collapse of public order.
