RAMALLAH, April 9, 2025 (WAFA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the decision by the Israeli occupation authorities to close six UNRWA schools in occupied Jerusalem.
The OIC slams this decision as part of Israeli's illegal measures targeting the presence and role of the UN agency, particularly in Jerusalem, noting that this constitutes a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and relevant resolutions, including Resolution 302 (IV), which established the Agency's mandate.
In a statement, the OIC warned of the consequences of this decision, which will deprive Palestinian refugee children of their basic right to education and attempt to impose the Israeli curriculum on them.
It further emphasized that this is part of Israel, the occupying power, targeting the rights and presence of the Palestinian people in occupied Jerusalem, and is part of its unacceptable attempts to liquidate the Palestinian refugee issue and their inherent right of return.
The organization also renewed its call on all states to protect UNRWA and provide it with political, financial, and legal support, enabling it to continue its vital and irreplaceable role in serving millions of Palestinian refugees and ensuring their rights, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions, including Resolution 194.
