SYDNEY, April 7, 2025 (WAFA) — Australia has joined international calls for an independent investigation into the killing of 15 paramedics and emergency workers in southern Gaza, who were directly targeted by Israeli occupation forces.
In this regard, the Australian government has made its position clear to Israeli officials and raised the issue several times over the past week.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong's spokesperson told ABC: "The killing of humanitarian workers in Gaza is unacceptable."
She added: "Aid workers must be protected, and Australia reiterates its call for all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law. A thorough and independent investigation is appropriate. Those responsible must be held accountable."
She stressed the need for greater efforts to protect humanitarian workers in Gaza and around the world.
"Australia is leading global efforts to protect aid workers and is seeking a new declaration to protect humanitarian workers," she emphasized:
The video, published by the New York Times, refutes Israeli claims that its forces did not randomly attack an ambulance, and that several vehicles suspiciously advanced toward the soldiers without emergency signals.
