Norway strongly condemns Israeli army's targeting of humanitarian relief personnel in Gaza

RAMALLAH, April 3, 2024 (WAFA) –  Norway strongly condemned the Israeli attack on humanitarian relief workers in the Rafah area in the southern Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of 15 staff.

This came in a written statement issued by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, in which he expressed his deep concern over the Israeli army's targeting of Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Civil Defense, and United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) personnel.

He emphasized that targeting humanitarian relief workers is prohibited under international law and strongly condemned the attack.

He also called forthe need to provide protection for humanitarian workers who risk their lives to carry out their duties in war zones and conflict zones, emphasizing the need to investigate and hold accountable those responsible for such attacks.

Eide offered his condolences to the families of the victims and the relief organizations for whom they worked.
