Jordanian Foreign Minister urges immediate ceasefire in Gaza

AMMAN, March 20, 2025 (WAFA) – Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, has emphasized the urgent need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza.

In a series of calls with his counterparts on Thursday, Safadi stressed the importance of immediate and effective international action to compel Israel to cease its military aggression and to reopen the border crossings for the entry of humanitarian aid throughout the Gaza Strip.

Safadi warned of the catastrophic consequences of Israel’s resumption of its attacks on Gaza and the continued blocking of humanitarian assistance into the region. He underlined that a permanent and immediate ceasefire should be implemented, starting with adherence to the exchange agreement, and condemned the resumption of hostilities and the use of food as a weapon of war.

In his discussions, Safadi reviewed ongoing regional and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of much-needed aid to Gaza. He also expressed concern over Israel’s illegal actions in the West Bank, which he warned could escalate the situation even further.

As part of his diplomatic outreach, Safadi spoke with several foreign ministers, including Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, and Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
