RAMALLAH, March 18, 2025 (WAFA) – The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that the violent Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip at dawn left horrific and unbearable scenes of Palestinian civilians killed, including children, calling for a return to the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli occupation forces launched a fresh wave of aerial attacks on the Gaza Strip after midnight, resuming the ongoing genocide after a two-month hiatus with widespread airstrikes that so far claimed the lives of at least 254 Palestinian civilians, including children and women.
The ongoing bombardment has resulted in at least 300 fatalities, with over 440 others injured, including women and children. Additionally, numerous people remain trapped under the rubble of targeted buildings.
In a post on his X, Lazzarini went on to say, "Horrific scenes of civilians killed in Gaza, including children, after waves of violent Israeli bombardment overnight."
He also emphasized that Israel's resumption of its genocidal war on Gaza "increases the suffering and despair," adding, "A return to the ceasefire is imperative."
