UK voices concern over Israeli decision to cut off electricity to Gaza

LONDON, March 10, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Kingdom expressed Monday its deep concern over the Israeli occupation's decision to cut off electricity supplies to the Gaza Strip, calling for it to be restored.

"We're deeply concerned by these reports and urge Israel to lift these restrictions," Prime Minister Keir Starmer's official spokesman told reporters.

"We're clear that a halt on goods and supplies entering Gaza, including basic needs such as electricity, risks breaching Israel's obligations under international humanitarian law," he said.

Regarding whether this decision constitutes a violation of international law, the spokesman said it is a matter for international courts, adding that halting the entry of basic goods and supplies, including electricity, into Gaza may threaten to violate Israel's obligations under international humanitarian law.
