LONDON, March 10, 2025 (WAFA) – Activists raised the Palestinian flag via a drone during a rugby match between England and Italy in London, in protest against the Allianz insurance company, which has an insurance agreement with Elbit Systems, one of the largest Israeli arms companies.
Activists from the Palestine Action organization raised the flag at the Allianz Stadium, which hosted the match yesterday, and the protest took place at the 67th minute of the match, as part of the Six Nations Rugby Championship.
According to a statement by the organization, it targeted the company because it has an insurance agreement with the Israeli company that produces about 85% of the drones used by the Israeli occupation army.
The organization’s statement read: “Unlike the Elbit drones that are used to kill and maim Palestinians, our drone came peacefully to deliver a message to the stadium owner, Allianz, to stop insuring it.”
The statement confirmed that Elbit had tested its weapons on Palestinians, stressing that "without the insurance provided by Allianz, Elbit would not have been able to produce the weapons that were tested on Palestinians in Britain."
Although the match was briefly stopped due to the incidents, it continued later, and commentator Nick Mullins said: "If you're wondering why the match was stopped now, it was because of a drone flying over the pitch, broadcasting a political message."
