PM Mustafa calls for adopting Palestinian-Egyptian plan for Gaza reconstruction as a joint Arab-Islamic initiative

JEDDAH, March 7, 2025 (WAFA) - Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammad Mustafa, called for the adoption of the Palestinian-Egyptian plan for the reconstruction of Gaza as a joint Arab-Islamic initiative. This plan aims to ensure the reconstruction of Gaza by Palestinian hands, firmly rooted in the land without displacement, with regional and international support. It is a step towards realizing the State of Palestine and building its institutions and economy.

Mustafa emphasized that the success of the plan depends primarily on compelling Israel to cease its aggression, guaranteeing the return of displaced persons, the withdrawal of occupying forces, the opening of crossings, ensuring the sustainability of the ceasefire, ensuring the entry of construction materials and necessary equipment, and providing the required financial support.

The Prime Minister stated, "We will work by all means to ensure the successful implementation of the reconstruction plan, not only as a foundation to restore life to our people in Gaza and all of Palestine but as a foundation to launch our efforts towards liberation from the grip of occupation and the realization of our independent Palestinian state on our national soil."

He called for intensifying efforts to mobilize international support and escalating political, diplomatic, legal and economic pressure on the occupying state until the Palestinian people gain their full legitimate rights, crowned by their freedom and sovereignty over their land, with Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the State of Palestine.

This was stated during his speech at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was held on Friday at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

This meeting comes amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, calls for their displacement from their land, and plans for annexation."

Mustafa expressed the State of Palestine's deep appreciation for convening this emergency meeting at the kind invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Pakistan, which reaffirms the commitment of OIC member states to defend Palestinian rights and to reinforce the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the conscience of the Islamic nation, placing it at the heart of the political and diplomatic commitments of the OIC.

The Prime Minister stressed that the unity of the Islamic stance and collective commitment towards Palestine is the path and effective tool in confronting Israeli arrogance and achieving peace and stability in the region.
