New York, March 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that Israel's ongoing aggression in the northern West Bank cities and camps continues to have devastating humanitarian consequences.
According to OCHA's daily report, Israeli authorities have started demolishing more than 16 buildings in Nur Shams refugee camp, following the destruction of over 20 homes in the area last week. These demolitions are taking place in the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps, displacing tens of thousands of residents, who are unable to return to their homes.
A recent assessment by OCHA and UNRWA, conducted last week in nearly twelve public shelters, revealed a severe lack of water, medications, bedding, sanitation facilities, and hygiene materials for displaced individuals in shelters in Jenin and Tulkarm.
Less than half of those interviewed were able to afford food, causing many to reduce or skip meals. Children are also unable to attend school due to ongoing restrictions and a lack of resources, according to the report.
Furthermore, access restrictions continue to impede the movement of people across the West Bank. The closure of the Tayasir checkpoint since February has confined over 60,000 Palestinians between the northern Jordan Valley and the rest of Tubas governorate, severely affecting access to markets, workplaces, and services.
