CAIRO, March 5, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met Tuesday the Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on the sidelines of the emergency Arab Summit in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, with President Abbas reiterating that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine.
President Abbas said that the necessary plans have been put in place to commence the provision of basic services to allow the return of the Palestinian people to their places of residence in the Strip, in preparation for reconstruction with the contribution of friends in the world.
He stressed that the priority is to consolidate the ceasefire, provide aid, and ensure the full withdrawal of the occupation forces.
He added that the Palestinian Authority will assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to stop all unilateral actions, colonial settlement construction settlements and attempts to annex Palestinian territories in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The President stressed the need for the international community, primarily the United Nations and the UN Security Council, to assume their responsibilities to oblige the occupying state to stop its ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, their territories, and holy sites.
He also stressed the need to stop the colonial settlement, annexation and racist expansion projects, with which the occupying state defies the will of the international community, UN resolutions and international law.
President Abbas expressed his great pride in the historical, brotherly, and solid Palestinian-Lebanese relations, stressing his keenness to develop and advance them.
