RAMALLAH, February 27, 2025 (WAFA) – Deputy Secretary-General of Fatah Central Committee Sabri Saydam Thursday called for international intervention to counter the schemes designed to forcibly displace Palestinians from their territory.
Saydam made his comments during a meeting with the Representative of Japan to Palestine Ambassador Araike Katsuhiko in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.
Saydam briefed Ambassador Katsuhiko on the recent developments in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip while stressing the need for the international community to intervene to counter the proposals to forcibly displace the Palestinian people, halt ongoing Israeli military aggression on the refugee camps in the northern West Bank, ensure protection for Palestinians, bring the genocidal war on Gaza to an end and resolve the Arab-Israeli ‘conflict’ in line with international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions.
He commended Japan for providing over $2.5 billion in financial support as well as for the political support it has provided to Palestine since 1993 and stressed the need to continue such support pending the creation of the independent Palestinian state and attainment of freedom.
Ambassador Katsuhiko reiterated his country’s unwavering position in support of the two-state solution in line with international law and the UN resolutions.
He expressed Japan’s willingness to offer the support necessary for Gaza reconstruction as per the guidelines of the Palestinian government and support international efforts aimed at enabling the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip.
