HRW warns against Israel replicating Gaza violations in the West Bank

NEW YORK, February 27, 2025 (WAFA) – The international human rights organization, Human Rights Watch, warned against Israel replicating the violations of the Gaza Strip in the occupied West Bank.

The human rights organization said in a statement last night that "Israeli tanks entered the occupied West Bank for the first time in two decades."

It pointed out that "the Israeli military operation, which focuses on the northern West Bank, is the longest since the Second Intifada."

The United Nations reports that refugee camps in Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarm have become "almost uninhabitable."

Human Rights Watch pointed out that "the Israeli army has demolished large numbers of homes and vital infrastructure, including kilometers of sewage networks and water pipes in Jenin."

It said that "Israel is replicating the violations of Gaza in the occupied West Bank, and we have previously seen these methods in the Strip."

Human Rights Watch called on states to take action to prevent further atrocities across the occupied Palestinian territory, including by imposing targeted sanctions on those implicated in ongoing serious violations, suspending arms transfers to Israel, and banning trade with illegal Israeli settlements.
