RAMALLAH, February 11, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mohammad Mustafa met on Tuesday with Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel in Ramallah, where they discussed the ongoing developments in Palestine amid the relentless Israeli aggression on the northern West Bank. They also addressed the government’s humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, Mustafa outlined the government’s relief initiatives on the ground in Gaza. These efforts are being led through the government’s operations room and in coordination with all humanitarian organizations working in Gaza, ensuring the optimal distribution of aid, providing temporary shelter, repairing partially destroyed housing units, removing rubble and restoring essential services in preparation for comprehensive reconstruction.

Mustafa emphasized that Israel is aiming to destroy the West Bank by continuing its incursions into cities, towns, villages and refugee camps in the northern part of the West Bank, along with the daily killings, detentions and the destruction of homes, infrastructure and other facilities.

He strongly reiterated the rejection of any plans to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from Gaza and the annexation schemes in the West Bank, which undermine the realization of a Palestinian state on the ground.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 2735, which calls for a permanent ceasefire, the delivery of aid to Gaza, the unification of institutions between the West Bank and Gaza, preparations for reconstruction and the realization of a Palestinian state.

Mustafa expressed his appreciation for Portugal’s unwavering support for Palestine and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people at all international forums.

For his part, Minister Rangel expressed his solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly those in Gaza, stressing the need for further relief efforts in the Strip and the importance of sustaining a ceasefire.

He called on Israel to comply with international and humanitarian law, for the Palestinian government to fully assume its responsibilities in Gaza and for the unification of Palestinian institutions. He also underscored the importance of supporting efforts for governmental reforms.

Rangel also condemned the ongoing colonial practices and annexation plans in the West Bank, as well as the displacement of Gaza’s residents, while reaffirming support for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

He emphasized the importance of supporting UNRWA to ensure the continued provision of services to Palestinian refugees.
