JENIN, Wednesday, May 29, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today conducted a large-scale search campaign in the northern occupied West Bank district of Jenin, according to local and security sources.
They said that the occupation forces stormed Kafr Ra‘i town, southwest of Jenin, muscled inside a house, conducted a thorough search and interrogated the occupants.
The gun-toting soldiers barged their way into the Fahma villages, west of the city, and conducted an extensive search campaign.
The sources confirmed a similar raid in Jalbun village, east of the city, where Israeli infantry troops deployed in the village and took over house.
Ibrahim Abu al-Rub, head of the Jalbun Village Council, said that the occupation forces has tightened restrictions on the villagers for 35 days in a row, and such restrictions included denying land and greenhouse owners access to their crops and banning construction.
He added that the soldiers seized a carwash and occupied a villager’s house.
Meanwhile, a convoy of Israeli army vehicles stormed the al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron, where soldiers deployed in the alleyways and seized several vehicles.
During the ensuing confrontations, the soldiers opened tear gas canisters and stun grenades at local youths. Neither casualties nor detention cases were reported.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
