JERUSALEM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities today razed a plot of Palestinian land in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the center of occupied Jerusalem, in preparation for holding a celebration for the colonists of the so-called “Feast of the Torch” early next week.
Local sources reported that Israeli soldiers, accompanied by bulldozers, bragged their way into Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, where they razed four donums of land, erected large platforms, and placed sound and lighting devices on the targeted land in order to hold the celebration.
The soldiers further severely restricted the neighborhood’s residents and obstructed their movement.
The so-called commander of the home front in the occupying state signed a decision to move the celebration to the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood after it was taking place in “Mount Meron” near the occupied Golan.
According to the decision, this colonial celebration will be transferred to the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and the neighborhood will be completely closed starting next Saturday evening and for a period of 48 hours until Monday before noon.
