RAMALLAH, Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (WAFA) – The killing of two Palestinians and four Israeli settlers in an attack in the West Bank was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
They said that the two alleged Palestinian attackers were killed by the Israeli occupation forces and a settler.
Al-Quds daily said Hamas took responsibility for the attack, saying the two attackers were members of its military wing, al-Qassam Brigades.
It also said Israelis are calling for a wide-scale military operation in the West Bank.
It said Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh held takes with the Iranian president on the situation in Palestine.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida daily said two other Palestinians died yesterday of wounds sustained earlier from Israeli army gunfire during assaults on the northern West Bank city of Jenin.
It also said that the Israeli occupation authorities ordered the intensification of its forces in the north of the West Bank while increasing detentions and house demolitions.
Al-Ayyam daily said settlers carried out dozens of attacks against Palestinians, burning fields and vehicles and attacking homes.
It said two Palestinians, 17 and 18 years of age, were killed and a third was injured when a homemade explosive device exploded prematurely in Balata refugee camp in Nablus.
It quoted a report saying that Israel submitted 45 settlement projects since the start of the year that would include more than 4100 housing units.
It also said that Washington is spearheading a campaign against a United Nations committee looking into Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Al-Ayyam also said that the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem demolished a two-story building in Silwan neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said meetings for the Consultative Committee for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) kicked off in Beirut as UNRWA Commissioner-General warned that the agency could stop work for lack of funds.
