QALQILIA, Friday, May 19, 2023 (WAFA) – At least three Palestinians were shot and injured by rubber-coated steel bullets in an Israeli army crackdown today on the peaceful anti-settlement weekly demonstration in the town of Kafr Qaddoum to the east of Qalqilia, said local activist, Murad Ishtaiwi.
The march took off after the Friday prayer with the participation of hundreds of the town’s residents, who also rallied to mark the 75th anniversary of the Nakba and in condemnation of settlers’ provocative annual flag march in Jerusalem and their continued raids into al-Aqsa masque with the full support of the occupation government.
The activist said Israeli forces stormed the town and took over the rooftops of several homes, turning them into military outposts. Forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters toward participants in the march, shooting and injuring three youths.
Dozens were treated at the scene from tear gas suffocation.
