HEBRON, Sunday, February 26, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today bulldozed privately-owned Palestinian land in the Birin area to the east of Yatta to the south of Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, for the benefit of settlement expansion, according to a local activist.

Activist Rateb al-Jabour told WAFA that Israeli bulldozers leveled land belonging to al-Burqan family in the Birin area for the benefit of expanding a nearby illegal settlement outpost.

To be noted, forces prevent Palestinian residents’ access to their lands in the said area and intensify their measures against them with the aim of forcing residents to leave their land in favor of settlement expansion.

On 20 February, the United Nations Security Council =unanimously denounced Israeli plans to expand its settlements in the occupied West Bank, stressing that the settlement activities harm the viability of the two-state solution.

The Security Council strongly underscored the need for all parties to meet their international obligations and commitments, and strongly opposed all unilateral measures that impede peace, including, inter alia, Israeli construction and expansion of settlements, confiscation of Palestinian lands, and the legitimate legalization of settlement outposts, demolition of Palestinians homes and displacement of Palestinian civilians.
