Headed by President Abbas, Fatah Revolutionary Council hold its 9th session

RAMALLAH, Monday, January 03, 2022 (WAFA) - The Revolutionary Council of the Fatah movement held today its ninth session at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

The session was headed by President Mahmoud Abbas and attended by the members of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement.

At the beginning of the session, the President gave a political speech, in which he addressed the latest developments on the Palestinian cause.

"We celebrated these days the fifty-seventh anniversary of the launch of our glorious revolution, which was worthy of this great and steadfast people, and which extended this year to reach all parts of the world, which confirms that the masses of our people stand firmly behind our national project in the face of the dangers facing our national cause and that we will remain steadfast and committed to our land regardless of pressures," President Abbas said.

"We also salute the heroes of the peaceful popular resistance who confront with their bare chests, in all our cities, villages and camps, terrorist settlers and their aggression which is carried out under the protection of the occupation army," he stressed, adding that the popular resistance "has won and will win because it defends truth and justice."

President Abbas affirmed that everyone is coming out to participate in this resistance that has proven to the world that the Palestinian right will not be lost.

"We see the elderly, children and women along with the youth rushing to defend this country and its soil, and we will stop this settler terrorism, as is happening in Barqa, Kafr Qaddoum, Beita, Derastia, Asira al-Shamaliah, Masafer Yatta, Sebastia, and most importantly, in Jerusalem, the capital of our Palestinian state," the President stressed.

President Abbas further touched on the meeting of the Central Council which will be held soon in Palestine, pointing out that the session will be very important for taking the decisive and necessary decisions to protect the Palestinian national cause and principles that cannot be abandoned at any cost.

“The council will make the fateful decisions which will be in the interest of our people and their just cause," the President said. "We have a political vision that we have informed the world about, which is the necessity of having a real political path that leads to ending the Israeli occupation, which we will not accept to remain forever, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and under the umbrella of the International Quartet."

He stressed the importance of holding the eighth congress of the "Fatah" movement, affirming that "we are entering a new phase so that we can obtain political and organizational outcomes that mobilize the great capabilities that exist within the movement, which owns the national project and its backbone."

The president also addressed the economic situation and the financial crisis that Palestine is going through, stressing that "there is a siege imposed on us in order to pressure us, but with the steadfastness of our people and the closeness of our ranks, we are able to confront it because we have a right, and we will not give up on our martyrs, prisoners, and fighters."

He affirmed that the Palestinian people have proven keenness in all experiences to protect the national project, noting that there are many economic projects that are being implemented in order to support the steadfastness of citizens and strengthen the national economy.

The President praised holding the first phase of the municipal elections, which witnessed a high turnout from the Palestinian citizen to the ballot box, stressing the importance of the second phase, and the availability of real political will to make it a success, given that citizens have the right to choose who represents them.

Speaking about the Coronavirus epidemic, President Abbas said Palestine, with its medical, security, and government teams is making tremendous efforts to confront the pandemic, emphasizing that the government has been able to provide vaccines to protect the lives of the Palestinian people.
