Newspaper Review: Dailies highlight funeral of Palestinian boy killed by Israeli occupation soldiers

RAMALLAH, Sunday, December 06, 2020 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the funeral procession held yesterday for Palestinian child Ali Abu-Alayya, 13, who was shot dead on Friday by Israeli occupation forces in his hometown village of Al-Mughayir, northeast of Ramallah.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas called the family of Abu-Alayya and offered them condolences.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said in its main story that dozens of Palestinians were injured during clashes with Israeli occupation soldiers in the village of Kafr Qaddum, near Qalqilia city in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the Christmas tree was lit yesterday in the biblical city of Bethlehem in the south of the occupied West Bank, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, with the absence of the thousands of pilgrims and international tourists who used to attend this occasion at this times of the year, due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

The three dailies said the Palestinian Ministry of Health yesterday registered 1422 new cases of coronavirus, 15 deaths and 1030 recoveries across Palestine.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, participated virtually in the kick-start of the Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem in a speech aired via Palestine TV.

Al-Quds said international and Arab officials have strongly condemned the attempted arson of the Church of Gethsemane by a hardcore Israeli fanatic on Friday.
