RAMALLAH, Sunday, August 30, 2020 (WAFA) – News about the most recent novel coronavirus statistics in Palestine made headlines in the front page of the three Arabic Palestinian dailies today.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaileh confirmed yesterday that four people died from coronavirus in the West Bank and 417 new cases were recorded during the past 24 hours.
Al-Kaileh said 340 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, most of them in the Hebron district, while 40 patients are in intensive care, including eight on respirators.
The papers said that the police confirmed that young woman was announced dead yesterday evening after she was unintentionally shot by gunmen who were shooting in the air in celebration of a wedding in al-Amaari refugee camp, near Ramallah city in the West Bank. The woman’s sister was too injured in the hand during the incident.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Palestinian land owners have been protesting in the village of Dura, in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, in order to prevent extremist Israeli settlers from seizing and confiscating their lands.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said dozens of Tunisian intellectuals condemned in a statement the UAE’s recent agreement to normalize relations with apartheid Israel, and called for a cultural boycott of it.
Al-Quds said US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said that he supports the two-state solution as he rejects Israel’s intentions of annexing the West Bank, as reported in al-Quds.
The dailies said thousands of Israelis demonstrated yesterday in front of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s official residence in the city of Jerusalem, calling on him to resign.
