RAMALLAH, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 (WAFA) – Three Palestinians have died today of coronavirus and 424 new cases were recorded in Palestine in the last 24 hours, according to Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.
She said two of the deaths were reported earlier of a 34-year-old man and an 80-year-old man from the West Bank and the third was from Shufat refugee camp in Jerusalem, which raise the total number of corona-related fatalities in Palestine to 127, including 114 from the West Bank, mainly the Hebron district, one in the Gaza Strip and 12 in East Jerusalem.
Alkaila said most of the new 424 cases were in the Hebron district in the south of the West Bank, the current epicenter of the disease in Palestine, and 200 in the Jerusalem governorate, including 124 in Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem.
She said 522 patients have recovered, mainly in the Jerusalem and Hebron governorates, or 61.1 percent of the total cases, while the active ones stood at 38.3 percent, including 27 who are in intensive care and four on ventilators.
There are 23,427 corona cases recorded in Palestine since the outbreak of the disease in March, of whom 14,321 have recovered, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 statistics.
