New Government to be Sworn-In

RAMALLAH, May 16, 2012 (WAFA) – A new Palestinian government headed by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad will be sworn-in Wednesday in front of President Mahmoud Abbas.

Abbas has asked Fayyad on May 9 to form the new government, which Fayyad had accepted and said he was ready to swear-in his new cabinet on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., according to the letters exchanged between the two and which were published on the Arabic WAFA newscast.

The new government will include new ministers filling posts vacated by ministers who have resigned, the last of which were the ministers of telecommunication and health. However, key ministries, mainly the foreign and interior, will keep their current heads.

Some reports said Fayyad is going to give up his finance portfolio to another minister, but there was no confirmation on who will take that post.
