President’s Secretary says Lawlessness will not Return

JENIN, May 2, 2012 (WAFA) – Tayyeb Abdul Rahim, secretary of President Mahmoud Abbas, said Wednesday that lawlessness will not be allowed to return to the Palestinian Territory.

Abdul Rahim was speaking at the funeral of Jenin governor Qaddoura Mousa, who died of heart attack earlier in the day, hours after gunmen opened fire at his house.

Mousa, 60, suffered a heart attack after the shooting and was taken to hospital were he was later pronounced dead.

He served as governor of Jenin since 2005 and had previously served 12 years in Israeli jails for resisting the occupation.

Officials believe the shooting at Mousa’s house had to do with the killing last month of a Palestinian who was wanted by the security forces on criminal charges.

Jenin has declared a three-day mourning and general strike.
