Republic of Estonia Upgrades Palestine's Status to Mission

RAMALLAH, April 30, 2012 (WAFA) – The Republic of Estonia upgraded the status of the Palestinian diplomatic delegation to the level of a mission, a press release issued by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

Foreign Minister Riad Malki received a letter from his Estonian counterpart Urmas Paet regarding the upgrading of the Palestinian status, said the statement.

President Mahmoud Abbas, on an official visit to Tunisia, welcomed the decision and praised relations between Estonia and Palestine, particularly its support for the Palestinian national right to establish their independent state.

“The road to peace has gained us the recognition of more than 132 countries, a full membership in UNISCO as well as upgraded diplomatic representations in many countries,” said Abbas.
