RAMALLAH, April 12, 2012 (WAFA) - The overall consumer price index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory increased by 0.25% in March compared to the previous month, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said Thursday.
When compared to the same month last year, CPI had increased by 3.12%, added the report.
Change in CPI for March can be traced back to changes in prices of several major expenditure groups when compared to the previous month, including an increase in education by 2.16%, in prices of transportation by 0.64%, and in prices of textiles, clothing and footwear by 0.86%.
Prices of medical care went up by 0.65% and in housing by 0.32%.
The report said March prices increased in East Jerusalem by 0.22%, in the Gaza Strip by 0.31% and in the in the West Bank by 0.25%.
