RAMALLAH, April 9, 2012 (WAFA) – Al-Quds main front page article Monday highlighted a meeting between President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to discuss the anticipated cabinet reshuffle.
The daily said Abbas prefers “limited” changes to the current cabinet but Fayyad wants mandate to form a new government.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted Abbas’ meeting with the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Monti. The headline quoted Monti stressing that his country is committed to the European Declaration regarding Jerusalem.
The newspaper also quoted Abbas saying they reached an agreement to form a joint Palestinian-Italian committee and printed a picture of Abbas and Monti during their meeting.
Al-Ayyam, in a report from the French news agency, said on its front page that Fayyad will deliver the much-anticipated letter from Abbas to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on April 17 when the two officials meet.
Al-Quds featured Palestinian Christians celebrating Easter for the Catholic Church and Palm Sunday for the Orthodox Church in the Palestinian Territory.
