Twelve Detainees on Hunger Strike, 2 Hospitalized

RAMALLAH, April 5, 2012 (WAFA) – Twelve Palestinian prisoners are currently on hunger strike in Israeli jails protesting their administrative detention without charge or trial, the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) said on Thursday.

It said that two of them, Bilal Diab, from Jenin, and Thaer Halahleh, from Hebron, who have been on hunger strike for more than a month, were hospitalized due to severe deterioration in their health.

The PPC said Yasin Karkari, one of the striking prisoners from the Nablus area, went on strike in support of the prisoners on hunger strike, while Mohammad al-Taj, from Tubas area, is on hunger strike demanding to be treated as a prisoner of war.

The remaining striking prisoners are: Hassan Safadi, Ahmad Saqir, Mohannad Abdullah, Omar Abu Shalal, Mohammad Abu Arab and Fairs al-Natoor, all from the Nablus area, in addition to Ayman Tbeesh, from the Hebron area, and Jafar Izz-Eddin, from Jenin area.
