Ministry of Agriculture Launches Training Program in Indonesia

JAKARTA, February 19, 2012 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Agriculture Sunday launched a training program in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, concerning farming, producing and marketing tropical and subtropical fruits, said a press release by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

JICA said that the Ministry of Agriculture started the training program as a joint project between the Palestinian Authority and the Indonesian government and sponsored by JICA to train the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture’s staff.

The program began following the visit of a high Palestinian delegation headed by Minister of Planning and Administrative Development Ali Jarbawi and other representatives from the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and National Economy to Indonesia in September 2011.

The release said that the program will last for two weeks, during which the trainees are going to be introduced to the latest farming and producing tropical and subtropical fruits’ techniques under the supervision of experts from the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture.

The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture expressed gratitude for JICA’s support and considered it an opportunity to build up national expertise, which will revive and support farming in the West Bank.
